REFLECTIONS

Quite sometime.

As one watches the unfolding events in the world, weather disasters, wars and rumours of wars. The wonders of human achievements in science and technology...the major noticeable thing is man's predicament to live in peace and to live right. Who decides what is right and good? The law courts? The threats to human lives, poverty in some areas of the world...is there not a way out?

There is.

Great human minds have over the centuries pondered on issues of human problems and miseries. Man is in need of what is outside him. Only God in Christ Jesus can.

Man is a stubborn creature..., a stubborn creature. The area of the globe that I belonged to is wrapped with myriads of problems. The leadership having failed their people over the years often blame their colonial masters for their predicaments.

Wantonly, the leaders live above their people. The leaders often call for prayers as if prayers will replace obedience to do what is right - "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise" (Psalm 51:17)

As I pondered on the situation of my continent and my own nation, my question is "is there not a way out?"

There is. There is.

It starts with recognising our evil ways. Evil ways? Yes, our evil ways. The Church is not exempted.

The best place to start this is the house of the LORD, then we would have courage to call on others to repent. What have we done for anyone to call the Church - the body of believers to repentance? Let there be a soul-searching, and the Bible as a guide for discipleship life (Matt 28:20) - a call of total obedience.

As we turn to the LORD Jesus in true repentance, individuals will be healed - including our culture, land and economy.

There is a way. The way is by turning from our evil ways, calling upon the LORD Jesus. This is the beginning of a new life. And that we henceforth live by what the Bible says. Denominations (truly not the whole) have ways of colouring God's Word, but the Book speaks for itself. The Holy Spirit affirming it. Man can live to please His maker.

 "For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." - Romans 8:3,4;

"And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again" (2 Corinthians 5:15).

"For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments" (Ezra 7:10).

I have been asking a question, "When will the first African astronaut land on the moon?"
