CHRISTIAN LITERATURE MISSION OF NIGERIA


PREAMBLE

Moved by the need to serve the body of Christ by producing visual and non-visual materials for Evangelism, Discipleship and Mission work, we brethren numbering about Forty (40) from different Fellowships and Churches have organised ourselves into a formidable Association for the promotion and advancement of Christian publications and educational Books/Materials in Nigeria.

We met on October 5th 1991 and subsequently on January 11th 1992, a five year project proposal of the activities and the name “Christian Literature Mission of Nigeria” was adopted for this Association, which is a Non-denominational, Non-Profit making Christian service Mission.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES.
The aims and objectives of the Mission shall include the following:-
(a)     Establish a Resource Centre in a strategic location in Ibadan to serve as the base/secretariat of the   
          Mission for the salvation of souls and edification of the body of Christ in general.
(b)     Encourage Christians to read in order to deepen their faith.
(c)     Train Christian Communicators.
(d)     Train Christian professionals to produce quality Christian Literature and teaching materials.
(e)     Embark on research and development in the various areas related to training and production so as to 
         ensure cost effectiveness and safety in all areas of the Mission’s emphases.
(f)     Produce/translate considerable number of Adult and Children Bibles in English and Nigerian local 
         Languages at an affordable price.
(g)     Support Christian Missionaries with appreciable Christian Teaching Materials.
(h)     Keep record of notable Christian and educational events/materials.

OPERATIONS OF THE MISSION
The Mission divides her operations in to Project Units. Each Unit is headed by a co-coordinator. The Mission shall have the following units:
Resources Unit.
Production Unit
Training Unit
Education Unit
Research/Development Unit.
Readership Promotion Unit.
Mission Link Unit.
Finance Unit.
Evaluation Unit.
(a)     RESOURCES UNIT:- This Unit shall serve as the Library both for adults and Children. It also shall serve as an information and reception center for Christian life and educational materials.
(b)     PRODUCTION UNIT:- This Unit shall be responsible for printing of Bible, Christian Literature and other Materials.
(c)     TRAINING UNIT:- The Unit shall be responsible for conducting various workshops and seminars to train Christians to write, produce and publish visual and Non-visual materials. It shall also be  responsible for the development of various curricula on Christian education.
(d)     EDUCATION UNIT:-  The education Unit of the Mission shall be responsible for developing curricula on adult literacy as well as for all levels of education, pre-nursery to tertiary.
(e)     RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT UNIT:- This Unit shall be responsible for carrying out research and identifying needs and problems relevant to the production of Christian Literature and   materials. It shall also be responsible for developing strategies to meet identified needs, scientifically and technologically.
(f)     READERSHIP PROMOTION UNIT: This Unit shall promote reading of the Bible and Christian Literature. It shall organize mobile libraries, book clubs and literature days to achieve this aim.
(g)     MISSION LINK: This Unit shall serve as a link with missionaries. From time to time, it shall organize for a dissemination of information on missionary activities for the purpose of prayer, support and
production of relevant follow-up materials for use on Mission fields.
(h)     FINANCE UNIT:- It shall be responsible for generating funds needed to implement all the Mission’s activities.
(i)      EVALUATION UNIT:- This Unit shall periodically assess the performance of the Mission in terms  its goals and objectives.
